Senior Associate
Laura Dossa joined CLS in the summer of 2007 and brings expertise in strategic communications, media relations, marketing and legislative strategy.
Prior to CLS, Laura was Account Executive at a high-tech public relations and marketing firm, O’Keeffe & Company. There, she managed Congressional, federal agency, and third party outreach, media relations and regular public-private meetings for a number of clients. She was instrumental in developing Senate legislation on telework, or telecommuting, which resulted in a Senate subcommittee hearing and companion legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives. She has also worked at a high-tech public relations firm in San Francisco, Blanc & Otus, where she provided high-profile clients, such as Sony PlayStation, Openwave, and SeeBeyond, a SunMicrosystems company, with media outreach and analysis services.
Laura previously worked for Congressman Mike Thompson (D-CA) as both Press Secretary and Legislative Assistant. While serving as his spokeswoman, she successfully secured and managed media interviews, op-eds and letters to the editor with national and international print and broadcast outlets. Additionally, her work negotiating with national trade organizations and high-tech companies was integral in the creation of the first legislation on electronic waste and computer recycling.
Additionally, Laura has volunteered on several political campaigns on both the state and federal level, and has done freelance writing for English grammar textbooks.
A native of Massachusetts, Laura has a master’s degree in Public Communication from The American University, where she worked directly with the Dean of the School of Communication in social advertising research, and a bachelor’s degree in History from The College of the Holy Cross.
